Our First Home!
So I finally took pictures of our little apartment. The inside only because I think blogs are too out there to post our front door or building you know? So I'll start with the living room, move to the kitchen, the hallway, the bathroom, and then our bedroom. :) YAY.

Busiest Weeks.
Sorry I know I have been a slacker for the past 2 Sundays but for valid reasons!
2 Sundays ago we were driving home from Logan Utah where one of my best friends got married! So fun!
Last Sunday we had just gotten back from California, where we failed to take any pictures, and laid in bed all day because Jake hasn't been feeling good.
Now we are very close to finals and everything I have done this semester has to be compiled into a thousand different binder all in specific ways for a massssive amount of my grade. Needless to say our apartment is showered in papers, binders, texts books, and backpacks. Someday I will put up pictures of our apartment. But for now here is one of our favorite wedding pictures!

What a week.
This week has been especially rough. Yesterday, Saturday, marks 5 weeks that I have been unable to use my left wrist and been in constant pain. It's frustrating that none of the doctors know what is wrong but I am hopeful for a call from the orthopedic doctor this week and can get some tests done before we go to California in 8 days. So instead of this being a whine and complain session of the hard week we've had we are going to post things we are grateful for. (in no particular order except number one maybe)
1. Each other and having been married in the temple. It is such a blessing for us to be constantly reminded of how important the Gospel is to us and that we have forever together. It reminds us that not every day or week will be a bad one because we have an eternity of days to spend together. It also gives us the chance to attend the temple together each week and feel refreshed. Also, being married is a great blessing. It allows us to support each other in a whole new and different way and gives us time to laugh.
2. Funny things. Often Jake wakes up in the most hilarious moods and makes me laugh all morning. There is nothing better than waking up next to the one you love with a smile and a laugh in the morning. Generally in the afternoon I begin to loose my mind from school and become ridiculous and Jake just laughs at me and encourages it, most of the time.
3. An education. As difficult as it can be to go to school everyday it's a bit easier knowing that someday we will be teachers and make a difference in the lives of our students (hopefully!). And it isn't so bad going to school because we can drive and not walk in the dreaded cold of Rexburg.
4. Our families. It is so great to know that we have a support system behind us at all times. We know that no matter what time it is we can get a hold of someone if we need to. It's also nice to feel the love and peace that comes from family. We can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas break!!
5. Our Savior, Jesus Christ. It comforts me everyday through every pain and frustration to know that He suffered and died for us so that he can comfort us and help us through it all, including mistakes. I know that no matter what time of day I can reach him and feel of his love and comfort. He is only a prayer away and can understand me even when I'm crying. I am grateful for that sacrifice so that Jake and I can be together forever because we are not perfect but through him we can become perfect someday.
We could go on forever about things that we are grateful for but I think those are our top 5 for now and those happy thoughts are what help us get through every step of everyday sometimes. And for me that's okay. Life was meant to be difficult, I know that I chose to come to this earth to be tested and I am determined to pass that test whatever trials are thrown our way. Together and with Jesus Christ we can face and overcome anything in life.

And that is all for this Sunday's overview of the life of the Newlywed Sherwoods.

Sunday Blogging/ Halloween!
Alright, I've made a goal that I will blog every Sunday. I am not going to back post but nothing super exciting has happened in the first few months of our marriage.. HA not. I will back post a litttttle. So hopefully at least every Sunday we will have a new blog post about something.
Anyways, Halloween. Traditionally I hate Halloween, scary things, and gross costumes. I am a huge wimp and Jake loves all that stuff so he goes out on man dates to see those movies. This year we were invited to a real Halloween party/Murder Mystery Dinner and had intense invitations and costume requests.
Jake's character was; Balihi, The Rogersandhammerstein Monster. Constructed from body parts of various and sundry individuals, Balihi is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll but mostly musical theater. Within weeks of his reanimation he was accepted to Julliard, received a degree in decomposition, and has been known to terrorize hapless villagers with smarmy show tunes until their brains explode. His works include Graveside Story, Eternally Damned Yankees, and Cats. Balihi is quite the ladies monster; women adore his stylish diamond stud neck-bolts and level head. While many women have tried to nail him down in marriage, he always broke loose before vows were exchanged.
My character was; Angels Deth, DDS. It is believed that early mans leading cause of death was dental trouble, and Dr. Angela Deth wants to bring back the good old days. This beautiful dentist is famous for putting her patients under, 6 feet under that is. The vivacious Dr. Deth earned the admiration of ghoul kind when she perfected the inter-generational root canal. Although she was given the electric chair several years ago, she was mysteriously saved at the last instant by a blackout and escaped before the power came back on. Now she roams the world performing random acts of dentistry on poor unsuspecting citizens. Angela's favorite patient is the mummy of King Aldrinktothat, whose 3,000 year old teeth are a psychotic dentists dream.

Us together nearing the end of the Party! turns out neither of us were the killer. Thank Goodness! We kept the hall light on all night anyways though. Until next Halloween..

Honeymooning (August 13-20)
So for our honeymoon we started out in a little bed and breakfast in Santa Cruz. We were only there for 9 or 10 hours before we headed to Newport Beach. We stayed at a fannnncy hotel for 5 nights. The second night we were there we decided to go out to a nice dinner. We chose Benihanas because it's delicious and a 2 minute drive from our hotel. While we were there a nice old lady at our table was chit chattin with us and when she found out it was our honeymoon she bought our dinner! And we got free ice cream.
The main reason for our honeymoon was to go to Disneyland!!!!!!!!! This is us at Big Thunder Railroad. The wildest ride in the west. legit.
At California Adventure they had an amazing new show called World of Color. It was a water and lights and a little bit of fire show. If the wind blew just right we got soaked!! And all the asians would back up into us trying to sheild themselves from the water.
It has always been a dream of mine to stay at a real Disney hotel. So Jake obliged and got us one night at the Grand Californian Hotel. We got there and they held our bags so we could go straight to the park since our room wasn't ready. Then when we received our text that it was ready we had a room with 2 full size beds!! Oh, and even though we requested a king wayyyy in advance there were none available because its first come first serve check in. lame. and it was dirty. Save your moneys and stay at the Marriott across the street. Anyways we got these cookies and milk as a sorry from the hotel. The only plus is we each got 2 free anytime use fast pass tickets for any rides. so that was cool plus the private park entrance.
We rode the teacups and spun SUPER FAST.
and Jake tried really hard to show he was buff.
Then we kicked the kids off and drove the Toon Town fire truck for a bit.
We had delightful lunch at the Rainforest cafe and were so full. And Jake ordered a 9 dollar smoothie only to find out it came with a free cup! ha.
The next day we rode autopia and told the guy we would pay him 500 dollars to take our picture and we never paid him. ha sucker!!
We took some funny space mountain pictures.
And California Screamin ones.
Then rode the Tower of Terror. literally. That ride is so stinkin scary. That guy next to me told me the ride was so funny because of all the screaming I did. He laughed the WHOLE time at me..
All in all we had a wonderful trip, I found my Price Charming and Jake found his Princess.
"The honeymoon never ends."

Sunday Dinners
I have always loved Sundays, not just because it's a day of feeling the Spirit, growing closer to the ones you love, and having the time to relax or serve others but because I always spent it with my family. Sundays were always the hardest when I first moved to college because I just wanted to eat dinner and spend time with my family. So I have decided that Sunday is new recipe dinners. Every Sunday Jake and I will try a new recipe for dinner of something we can make together. Last week we made some stew and rolls..... HA. it didn't turn out so hot so I didn't even take pictures. The stew juice all evaporated and the rolls started baking while they were rising on the oven because the stove was on.. That was my second stew fail. But yesterday... we made an AWESOME Chicken Tortilla Soup in the Crockpot. Thanks future Mother in Law for the recipe book!! Here are some pictures and the recipe :)
Oh and Jake got a haircut! This is our after we both took like 3 or 4 hour naps. Aren't Sundays the besttt!
Chicken Tortilla Soup
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 can (4 oz) of chopped mild green chillies, drained
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 yellow onion, diced
2 cans (15 oz each) of diced tomatoes, undrained
1/2 to 1 cup of chicken broth
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro
4 corn tortillas, sliced into 1/4 inch strips (we made then into smaller pieces)
1/2 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 avocado, peeled, diced, and tossed with lime juice to prevent browning
1 juiced lime
1. Put the chicken into the bottom of the Crockpot
2. Combine chillies, garlic, onion, tomatoes, 1/2 cup of broth, and cumin in a small bowl. Mix them up and then pour it over the Chicken
3. Cover; Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 hours. Then remove the chicken and use two forks to shred it. Return the meat and adjust seasonings and add more broth if you want to.
4. Just before serving, add cilantro and tortillas to the Crock pot and stir it to blend.
5. Serve in soup bowls, topping each serving with cheese, avocado, and a squeeze of lime juice.
YUMM. and super easy!
95 days until we get marrried.

The Start of Our Forever
Finally we are engaged!! And I can start a new blog to share all of the fun adventures of our life. I wish I had some pictures for when we got engaged but we are lame and went to the movies with my siblings to celebrate, thus no pictures, yet!

YAY they are looking good. Things are slowly putting themselves together. Thanks to everyone for your support and help. Look forward to a phone call from Jake or I to get your address for an invitation :)
